- Child Advocate
Reports to: Shelter Children’s Services Coordinator
Classification: Part Time Non Exempt 20 Hours WeeklyGeneral Description and Qualifications: The Child Advocate will be responsible for providing support, advocacy, crisis intervention, childcare, and activities to children and families. The Child Advocate will also be responsible for maintaining the children’s program area in shelter. A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field is preferred. The Child Advocate must have experience in providing services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence; must have knowledge and understanding of violence against women and the impact of the violence on their children, and must have knowledge and understanding of women and children in shelter and the impact of being in shelter on their lives. Excellent writing and communication skills are essential. Must have the ability to work with diverse populations. Must have reliable transportation, insurance, a valid Michigan Driver’s License and a good driving record. Must pass a criminal background check as a condition of
employmentSalary Range: $11.06-$$16.83
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work independently
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
- Allows for flexibility in schedule and job function
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
